Clause 21.2.1/6.2.4/6.5.1 Insurance
This clause is brought into effect by the inclusion of a provisional sum item in the Contract Bills. In the absence of such an item this insurance is not normally required. The cover relates to damage to property arising in connection with the carrying out of the Contract works and caused by collapse, subsidence, heave, vibration, weakening or removal of support or lowering of ground water, all provided on a ‘non-negligence’ basis, i.e. where there is no fault attributed to the contractor or designer. Contractors All Risk Insurance
Contractors All Risks insurance is an important extension/addition to a Liability policy. The cover provided is as follows:
- Loss or damage to the contract works and materials to be incorporated into the contract, whether permanent or temporary, whilst on the contract site or in transit to or from the site.
- Extensions are available to provide cover for plant, tools and equipment owned by you, Hired in Plant (as required by CPA conditions), Employees Tools and Offsite Storage and Terrorism cover which is now a requirement of the new JCT Contracts.
Cover can be arranged on an annual basis or for a specific contract. Premiums are normally based upon the contract value, sums insured, contract period and the type of work being undertaken.

Consultancy Service
If you are happy with your Insurance Company, but need help or advice with the day to day management, we will be happy to provide our services on a fee basis. We can provide the following valuable services to free your/your staff’s time to do other things: Risk Management Advice Annual or Bi-Annual Review Service – to check that your insurance is keeping up with changes to your business.
Checking and recording of insurance details for your Bona Fide Subcontractors – to ensure that you are not in breach of your Policy conditions and that your interests remain protected. Day to day dealings with the Motor Insurance Database (MID). This can be extremely time consuming if you have a medium to large fleet of vehicles.
